Nonfiction

Nonfiction is where I started. Before fiction, there were essays, interviews, and reported pieces for VICE, Elle, Journal, Kosovo 2.0, Balkan Perspectives, and many more.

The subjects were the things I am genuinely interested in, from feminist accountability and women’s history to health, psychoanalysis, and all the demons of everyday life. During the occasion of the interview, I  use (and abuse) the opportunity to actually speak with people I can learn from – writers and artists, including Sara Stridsberg, Vigdis Hjorth, ORLAN, Charlie Kaufman, and many more.

Writing nonfiction shaped how I write fiction. One of my first amendments is not to let reality be stranger than fiction. Because it often is.
